Three ways to experience the volcano fully off-road: the excursion from Nicolosi through woods, lava flows, two volcanic caves and a tasting, the one from the Silvestri Craters next to Rifugio Sapienza, and twenty free minutes on the track.
Book by 30 November: for every quad you get 10 free laps on the track to use on the following days.
Meeting point at the track entrance in via Goethe: welcome, helmet and disposable balaclava.
Meeting point on Google MapsAfter the briefing on our own track we head into an off-road trail through woods, broom and oaks. We walk down into a crater and visit the mouth of the famous Grotta delle Palombe, 120 metres deep. Going down inside is a separate excursion, booked on its own.
After a short stretch of paved road we enter the woods again and take you inside the centuries-old Grotta d'Angela, where time seems to have stopped.
Grotta d'Angela on Google MapsThrough woods and lava flows we reach Monte Mompilieri, where a tasting of local olive oils and wines awaits you. After about 20 minutes we set off again off-road to the top of the crater: from there you can photograph the Catania coast and Etna and, in season, stock up on chestnuts. Then back to the starting point.
Each quad carries up to 2 people

Silvestri Craters excursion
Departure from the Silvestri Craters, on Etna South next to Rifugio Sapienza · map
We cross a wooded area and a lava field, where we stop to visit a beautiful volcanic cave. On the way back we ride through woods of typical Etna vegetation, back to the starting point.
They can be added to the tour or booked on their own. Prices are per person.
Inside the Grotta delle Palombe: it looks like this only on the dedicated tour.
The Grotta d'Angela is a tube carved out by a lava flow: you can only get there off-road, after a stretch through woods and volcanic sand.
The Grotta delle Palombe opens inside the crater of a volcanic cone, at 730 metres above sea level. During the tour we visit the crater and go down to the mouth of the cave.
Going down inside is another matter: it is a tour of its own, with equipment and a guide, to be booked separately — €90 per person, minimum 4 participants. Ask us how it works.
Required for whoever rides; bring it with you on the day of the tour.
For passengers. Each quad carries a maximum of 2 people.
Comfortable and suited to the season, with closed shoes; long trousers are recommended. Up at altitude it can be cool even in summer. We provide the rest.
Add whatever you like to the tour — horse riding, the cave, the adventure park, a barbecue lunch — and watch the quote update. Then it goes to WhatsApp ready written.
Tell us the day and how many of you there are: we will confirm the time and the meeting point.
In Nicolosi there is also the quad track: twenty free minutes on off-road terrain, €35 per person.
